The rose is a symbol of the many aspects of love. The red rose in Christianity represents the blood of Jesus who bled and died on the Cross to cleanse us from our sins. Pink roses symbolize gratitude, grace, admiration, and joy; all part of the beauty bestowed on us through God’s unconditional love.

There of course is a long study on the different types of love described by the various Greek words used. Jesus used two different words when He questioned Peter on three occasions. “Do you love me?” One is agape - unconditional love that is demonstrated by our Father in heaven. The second is phileo- the love of friendship. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13. Jesus called his disciples “friends”.
Sometimes when our spirit has drifted from worship to just a mundane glance at the Word, we will be awakened by this simple question of Jesus. “Do you love Me?” …Unconditionally and willing to give up your life for me? Do we call Jesus our friend?
Jesus told Peter to “Feed my sheep.” He gave Peter the responsibility to do this when He was no longer with him and Peter would continue to love those whom He gave him. To me that is my family- my spouse, my children, my extended family, my friends. Even when trials make me weary, I will love because “He first loved me.”
”Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.“ Hebrews 12:3
Consider is an all inclusive word meaning to think on every aspect of the life, death and resurrection of Christ and how he suffered because of sinners like myself, then answer His question. “Do you really love me as I have loved you?”
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” John 15:12.
