"There are Always Flowers for those who want to see them" Henri Matisse (1869 – 1954) was a French visual artist who was known for his rich colors. Through traveling, he saw in nature an artwork waiting to happen. When I look at nature, I see God’s artwork already created. When we passed by the dunes onto the beach last week, I saw this single flower looking up into the sunlight , not concerned that it wasn’t the season to bloom nor that it wasn’t surrounded by other flowers. I could hear it shouting, “Hey, God made me and I’m going to bloom today.”Few would pass that way on the chilly, windy day , but that flower was a profound statement to me. If we seek beauty and hope as did Matisse, we will even see it in the singleness of a flower, thus giving us the power of perception.
“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all.” Psalm 124:4
“Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” – Hans Christian Andersen
Jesus said “…the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:8 My heart said, “Seek His face.” Your face, O LORD, I will seek (Psalm 27:8).
When the blind man was healed by Jesus, the Pharisees would not “see” Jesus as Savior but said he was a sinner . ”He (the healed man) answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”“
John 9:25 NKJV

I have heard and read so many testimonies of those who were blinded and living in darkness of sin and addictions and choices of regret. They were blind but now they see. Now they see the face of God in everything. The face of love and forgiveness and a new chance to bloom in season and out of season , lifting their countenance to the Son and soaking in His grace.
“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food, and medicine for the soul.” – Luther Burbank

Luther spoke to me there with that last quote! There is beauty in everything you see, you just have to find it and then let it work its magic!
