"Finding Compassionate Leadership: A Crowd of Sinners Seeking Guidance"

Cypress Roots

The cypress roots along a swamp or pond always intrigue me and I imagine them as people gathered for an event. There are many times in the Bible that it speaks about the crowds that followed Jesus. They heard of His healing power, His speaking with authority, and many miracles. “And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved

with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.“ ‭‭Mark‬ ‭6‬:‭34‬

God always lifted up leaders who represented a shepherd. In Numbers 27:17, Moses does not want the people to be without a leader. In fact,  Moses says that he is asking the Lord to do this so that, “the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep that have no shepherd ”. This is what the Lord wants for His people.

David was a shepherd before God chose him to be King, and shepherd his people. God said, ”I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend to them; he will tend to them and be their shepherd. I, the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them.” Ezekial 34:23-24

Isaiah 53:6 is a prophecy of Jesus and how He sacrificed Himself for His flock- His people. “All of us were like sheep that had wandered off. We had each gone our own way, but the LORD gave him the punishment we deserved.”

We are all part of a crowd searching for a leader. Moses, David, and the Apostle Paul, were simply men who failed in their flesh just like those who choose to lead congregations today. All men and women are a crowd of sinners needing “compassion” from Jesus everyday. We come to church to worship the One Great Priest, Jesus Christ” who “by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”

So “let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…”

“let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings…Let us hold unswerving to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:14,24-25

We are all one part of the crowd seeking the One who heals, forgives and loves. Therefore, “Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!“ ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭105‬:‭3‬-‭4‬

Amen. Amen. 👆❤️🙂😀😃😍
