Reflecting on the past is good when we can see God’s footsteps next to ours through all the moments of life. In this Psalm, David is fleeing from enemies but he remembers God’s protection from the past and so he concludes, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.“ Psalms 143:8

Have you ever been feeling totally alone in facing a situation but suddenly, God provides someone to come alongside of you to physically be His footsteps walking through it together? When I look back over my life, I can see Him taking my hand through a new or revived friendship just at the right time. Just when I thought I couldn’t keep walking forward for the enemy of my soul was threatening to defeat me, God connected me with an Angel in disguise to lead me in the right path again. That path may not have been the easy one but I know I was not alone and going forward, He will provide again. And in times of struggle, I need to only look up and then around me to find Him working through somebody by my side.
And so as David said, “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.“ Psalms 143:10
“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther King Jr., I Have a Dream speech (1963)

“The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts him. I was helped, my heart rejoiced, and I thank him with my song.” Psalm 28:7.
