"Finding Peace in the Midst of Chaos: Embracing the Father's Whisper to Be Still"

I always walk with an expectation to see something new along the walking path as God has created so much life for us to observe. I noticed these unique white mushrooms in the field but received a bonus when I got closer. I found this red legged grasshopper resting on its cushiony top that appears to be a luxurious, velvety seat with fringe all around the edges. Of course, I had to "be still" and “wait silently” to get a photo as most insects and butterflies sense danger and fly off.

In 1 Kings we read when Elijah was hiding in the cave because King Ahab and Jezebel had killed the rest of the prophets. He was the only one left and God needed to get his attention away from his fear. So it states there was a great wind.
“After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” 1 Kings 19.
God wanted to speak with Elijah personally and that took Elijah exiting the cave and silently waiting to hear God’s whisper. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8 As with Moses and the Egyptians, God was telling Elijah as He now tells us too, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today.” (Ex.14:13)
“Be still before the LORD, all mankind…” Zechariah 2:13
“Now then, stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes!” 1 Samuel 12:16
If God had to calm the prophets so they would listen to His voice of instructions, how much more do we need to “wait silently” to capture the message He has for us. I can’t force a creature or flower to stand still while I snap a photo but if I wait silently for the moment the wind stops or the little creature alights on the flower , I can get the perfect photo. In the quiet at 4 AM by myself, I search God’s Word to fit the picture as He whispers His instructions for that day.
“Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.”
Psalms 62:1-2, 8, 11
This world is full of noise that makes us like Elijah hide in a cave of fear but God is whispering to us, “Be still, and know that I am God!” Isaiah 46:10
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12
“And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Amen. 👆🙏🙏❤️
Just Be still!
