When we went to the park to feed the ducks, this bird stood out among all the ducks. It was so beautiful yet it had those ugly long orangish red legs. It reminded me of when I was little, there was a child’s book called The Churkendoose , the fowl in it was part chicken, Turkey, duck and goose. The theme of course was that it didn’t fit in with the other groups and was made fun of. That book above any stands out in my mind as I have never felt like I “fit in” from when I was little.
This fowl in the photo is called an Egyptian Goose as that is its place of origin but has been imported to other countries. I actually saw it at the other pond with a mate so I’m guessing he sensed he didn’t fit in at the duck pond after all😂

This verse from Isaiah is warning Israel that their worship has been in words only and not from their heart because they don’t recognize their Maker. How often we don’t feel like we fit in because we forget Who designed us to be who we are. Over the years I tried to “fit in” and I didn't embrace my true identity to the culture, I chose foolish directions. “There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death. Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, And the end of worldly joy may be grief.“ Proverbs 14:12-13
Its end can be spiritual death of our soul. In the end we hate ourselves and blame God for not giving us other qualities. We say a lot of “if only, I was” like or only I had like so and so. Neurologically, it is proven automatic negative thoughts and thanklessness contribute to disease and hurt brain function. (Dr.Daniel Amen) But praise God, he knows that we are meant to fit in one place and that is in His Kingdom.
”Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, not us ourselves [and we are His]. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.“ Psalms 100:3
The whole issue of identity is wrapped up in one verse . “Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are.” 1 John 3:1
