"The Meaning Behind the Red Sunrise and Sunset: Weather Prediction or Heavenly Miracle?"

Did you know that Jesus gave a lesson on the weather? In Matthew 16, He was  addressing the  Pharisees  and Sadducee about their knowledge of weather forecasting compared to their blind ignorance that He was the Messiah of prophecy. They knew “red at night , sailors delight and red in the morning, sailors take warning” but were demanding a miraculous sign from Jesus to prove His claim of Messiah-ship

What is the meaning behind the red sunrise and sunset: Weather prediction or heavenly miracle? By the way, why are there different colors in the sky? Blue light is scattered more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller wave lengths. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time. But when the particles and moisture in the air cause the blue light to be more scattered, the red and Orange wave lengths show through. What amazes me is that God created all the spectrum of colors for our enjoyment and that is a miracle in itself. Jesus pointed the Jewish leaders to the “sign of Jonah” referring to that prophet’s resurrection from  the belly of the whale as the miracle by which they should be convinced of God’s power. However, “Professing to be wise, they became fools…” Rom1:22 and missed “the exceedingly, abundantly above all power that could work “ in them if they just asked.

When my daughter was a child in the 1970’s, we’d watch some old shows in black and white. She, in her practical innocence, asked me if everything was once just two colors. And if something wasn’t true, was it plastic? But once she knew the truth, it set her free to enjoy so much more of God’s world. In Ephesians 3, Paul was encouraging the Ephesians to use their knowledge to build their faith through love for “We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes people arrogant, but love builds them up.” 1Cor.8:1 Paul was encouraging them “to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.“ Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬

How do you look at the red sunrise or sunset? Do you see a weather prediction or do you see a miracle of colors , a gift from a Heavenly Father  “who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (and so) to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.“ ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬-‭21
