The Power of Faith: Believing in the Unseen

There is always a heron at the pond standing perfectly still in the water just hoping for an unsuspecting small fish to swim by and be his next meal. I am sure they don’t contemplate whether they will be fed but their hope is like that of the Bible. ”Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Hebrews ‭11‬:‭1‬

A Heron on the water

For many years, June Hunt, M.A. has been an author, singer, speaker and founder of Hope for the Heart. Her story of growing up with an unloving and abusive wealthy father created a desire to find hope in Christ. So she is an example of having a faith dependent on God’s promises to give her a hope for what she had not witnessed in life thus far. Eventually, as those promises were fulfilled, she knew “surely she had a future hope and that hope would not be cut off.“ Much like the heron, which keeps focused on where God previously provided fish for its meal, God will surely provide for us through all obstacles we face.

What are the promises of God in which we can find hope with the power of faith?

“I have loved you with an EVERLASTING LOVE; I have drawn you with UNFAILING KINDNESS” Jeremiah 31:3

“God made you ALIVE with Christ, for He FORGAVE ALL OUR SINS” Colossians 2:13

“So do not fear, for I AM WITH YOU; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will STRENGTHEN  YOU AND HELP YOU; I will UPHOLD YOU with my righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10

“Thanks be to God! He GIVES US THE VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ”

1 Corinthians 15:57

The hope of victory over our sins, over our trials, over the attacks of Satan are all found in God's promises through His Son Jesus Christ. AND SO; “We put our hope in the LORD; He is our protector and our help. We are glad because of Him; we trust in His holy name. May your constant love be with us, LORD, as we put our hope in you.” Psalm 33:20-22

The heron will still be by the pond today knowing it will be fed; we must be near to God and His Word in faith and with hope of being fed with His daily promises. Amen. Amen.
